The Nebraska Renewable Energy Association (NeREA) has been formed to enable the state's residents to pool their ideas and expertise in the cause of renewables. Robert Byrnes of Oakland, Nebraska, NeREA President: “The goals of the NeREA will address specific needs for the development of renewable energy within the state, while maintaining a focus on how the individual can include renewable energy in their daily lives”.

Europe’s environment ministers believe that new forms of environmental policy and technology are needed to meet challenges related to globalisation, and ensure that everyone around the world plays by the same rules on a level playing field. This new emphasis was outlined today at an informal meeting of EU environment ministers currently being held in the Finnish city of Turku, involving ministers from 24 countries.

Biotechnology and Bioprocessing in Toronto, Canada, that it has
identified and tested highly effective enzyme mixtures for the
efficient conversion of renewable cellulosic biomass to ethanol. "We
are making meaningful strides toward the production of low-cost ethanol
from biomass," said Dr. Glenn Nedwin, Chief Science Officer of Dyadic.
