BioKing introduces 7 million gal/yr portable biodiesel plant Print E-mail
Thursday, 15 June 2006
Bioking Incorporated of the Netherlands have introduced their new containerised biodiesel plant.  The company claims it produces 26,000 tons of biodiesel per year on a continuous-flow basis.  The core of the new plant is their 'BK18ST Continuous Flow Reactor', which pumps feedstock and methoxide through a series of narrow tubes with internal 'fins'.  This accomplishes the transesterification process which in traditional batch-processing systems takes place in a reactor vessel.

The plant is built into a normal 40-foot shipping container, and includes a centrifuge for separating glycerine from the biodiesel, heat exchangers, a biodiesel generator and a water-washing centrifuge. To achieve the 26,000 tons/year, production would need to be 24-hour, year-round.  The advertised price is Euro €329,000 (USD $415,000).
